Information You Submit
Terms Entered in Search Tools
A name, location, or other term entered into a search box is transmitted to the third-party company operating that tool. Kershaw County Released Inmates does not store or log those search terms on its own systems.
Messages Sent to Us
If you send an email or submit a contact message, we retain the information needed to read and answer it. We do not share the message outside our organization unless disclosure is required by law.
Technical Data Collected Automatically
Ordinary web logs and analytics can record technical details when a page loads. Those details may include:
- The visitor's internet protocol address.
- The browser name and software version.
- The device class and operating system.
- Pages viewed and time spent on them.
- The referring website, when supplied.
- The date and time of each request.
Cookie Controls
Cookies help measure how visitors use the site. A browser can reject or remove them, although blocking cookies may cause some functions to behave differently.
Reasons We Use Data
Collected information supports the limited functions needed to operate and improve the service:
- Keeping pages available and responsive.
- Sending a search request to the selected partner.
- Learning which resources visitors use.
- Diagnosing errors and other technical faults.
- Displaying advertising that may reflect interests.
Websites Beyond Our Control
Links lead to Kershaw County records, South Carolina corrections pages, other government portals, and third-party search tools. Once a visitor follows one of those links, that operator's privacy policy controls its collection and use of data. Government record access may also be subject to the South Carolina Freedom of Information Act, Title 30, Chapter 4.
Advertising partners may use their own technology to recognize activity across websites and select ads. That tracking occurs on the partner's systems, not on systems operated by this site.
Parties That May Receive Data
We do not sell personal information. Data may be handled by a small set of service providers or disclosed when the law requires it:
- Search partners that process submitted queries.
- Analytics providers that measure site use.
- Advertising networks that deliver advertisements.
- Law enforcement or government bodies acting under a valid legal order.
Reasonable Security Measures
We use standard safeguards suited to a public website. No internet connection, storage system, or security process is immune from every intrusion, so we cannot promise that data will never be exposed.
Adults Only
This site is intended for adults and does not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 18. A parent or guardian who believes a minor submitted information may use the Contacts page to request deletion.
Choices About Your Data
Subject to applicable law and the data actually held, a person may ask us to:
- Provide a copy of personal data we retain.
- Correct inaccurate personal information.
- Delete personal data in appropriate cases.
- Stop certain forms of processing where an opt-out applies.

This privacy notice may be revised as practices or requirements change. Any revision will appear on this page with an updated effective date.
